Happy national or world lockdown anniversary! Remember where you were last March 15, 2020 when President Duterte announced the lockdown for the whole country? Do you remember what apps in your phone made it easier for you? These apps that I included are available to both iOS and Android phones.
Let me share my personal picks for you to continue thriving in this pandemic era:
GCash & PayMaya
GCash and PayMaya were one of the pioneers that introduced the QR Code in the country. From the biggest telecommunications companies in the country, GCash is the digital wallet arm of Globe Telecom, while PayMaya with Smart Communications. GCash and PayMaya have enlisted several merchant partners that helped in keeping small merchants afloat during the pandemic.
This also gave way to the merging of digital money and credit cards. You can apply for a GCash or PayMaya card that helps in online transactions that need card details. Without the QR Code or the card, you may transact using the mobile number you registered with them. The best part is, both GCash and PayMaya are open for all numbers regardless of their networks.
BPI Mobile and BDO Personal
BPI Mobile was a pioneer in introducing personalized QR Codes. There was a BSP issuance for temporary waiver of transaction fees across all banks and that created a breather to all clients of the banks. BDO Personal introduced their QR Codes this year to allow their clients get the same convenience.
While both banks had several mishaps during the peak of the pandemic, they are regularly updating their systems and strengthening their security to avoid fraudulent transactions and possible security breach with their two-factor authentication.
Lazada And Shopee
No need to wait for the double number promos (3.3 or 4.4), because of the pandemic the number of users surged for the two digital shopping outlets in the country. Boasting of their discount coupons and rewards for repeat users, there is also an increase of online merchants and Lazada and Shopee gave them a proper avenue to sell their products.
However, there was also the surge of fake merchants and customers alike. That did not stop for users on the continued patronage of the apps.
GrabFood And FoodPanda
If you are not a fan of retail therapy, perhaps stress eating will do? Enter GrabFood and FoodPanda! Social gathering is strictly prohibited with big crowds, but you can still enjoy your cravings by downloading these apps.
At the peak of the pandemic, all restaurants were available at a limited time. With the recent updates as recommended by the government guidelines, some restaurants have returned to delivering 24 hours. Always check the IATF guidelines to stay updated.
Lalamove And MrSpeedy Philippines
These apps came in handy for small and medium enterprises (SMEs). They were the more reliable delivery channels to bridge our goods and services to clients. LBC, GogoExpress and JT Express come in second for further locations with faster turnaround delivery time.
Netflix And Viu
While these have been staple even before pandemic, this has been a good diversion from the ravaging news of daily cases and with no clear plan from the government, a quick subscription of these apps (with HBO GO as runner up) can give you enough time away from the weekly Monday dose of television charades.
Watsons Philippines And Mercury Drug
Last in this list are the reliable medical providers and suppliers for your parents and loved ones. To ensure the senior citizens would not have to go outside for their prescriptions.
We hope you find these apps helpful, enjoy downloading!
